To honor the 50th anniversary of Oyster Perpetual Sea-Dweller, Rolex launched the latest generation-Oyster Perpetual Sea-Dweller Ref. 126600 in 2017, whose biggest feature is that the dial bears the name Sea-Dweller in red, a reference the first model.

WATER RESISTANCE
In 1967, Rolex Oyster Perpetual Sea-Dweller Ref. 1655, which was equipped with calibre 1575, was waterproof up to 1,650 feet (500 meters). Automatic helium exhaust valve which caused a stir at that time was suitable for heliox diving. The dial was decorated with the name Sea-Dweller Submariner 2000 in red. Oyster Perpetual Sea-Dweller Ref. 126600, waterproof today to a depth of 1,220 metres (4,000 feet), is designed for the pioneers of professional deep-sea diving. Its characteristically shaped middle case is crafted from a solid block   of particularly corrosion-resistant 904L steel. The winding crown is protected by a crown guard that is an integral part of the middle case. Fitted with the Triplock triple waterproofness system, the crown screws down securely against the case, providing watertight security akin to a submarine’s hatch. The crystal is made of virtually scratchproof sapphire. The waterproof Oyster case provides optimum protection for the Sea-Dweller’s high-precision movement.

BOLD APPEARANCE
Rolex is inclined to distinguish Sea-Dweller from Submariner and Deepsea by size, so Rolex enlarge Sea-Dweller watch size. The diameter of Sea-Dweller watch case is 43 mm, while Submariner for 40 mm and Deepsea for 44 mm. With bigger markers and hands, the dial is easy to read immediately and precisely in the deep sea. Comparing with the previous versions, thickened sapphire crystal with a Cyclops lens at three O’clock wins much praise, which doesn’t cause the crystal to break. In addition to the latest generation and the first version, other Sea-Dweller models have white words at six O’clock. The thickness of the case is increased at the same time the bracelet becomes wider. The lugs are redesigned, shorter and more curved, so the watch is also suitable for thin wrists.

PERPETUAL CALIBRE 3235
New Sea-Dweller watch is equipped with Calibre 3235, the latest generation of Rolex self-made movements. A consummate demonstration of Rolex technology, with 14 patents, it offers fundamental gains in terms of precision, power reserve, resistance to shocks and magnetic fields, convenience and reliability. An optimized blue Parachrom hairspring is fitted to the oscillator, the true heart of the watch. Patented and manufactured by Rolex in an exclusive paramagnetic alloy, it is up to 10 times more precise than a traditional hairspring in case of shocks. Thanks to new barrel architecture and superior efficiency, the power reserve of Calibre 3235 extends to 70 hours. It is more accurate than the standard by COSC.
